Many members of ABVP studying at Delhi University are protesting for the reopening of college campuses and the resumption of offline classes in the varsity.
Several members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have started protesting on Thursday, demanding the reopening of Delhi University college campuses and resumption of offline classes after nearly a year of closure of the varsity.
Several demands were put forward by the ABVP students who were protesting for the reopening of colleges. These students also said that Delhi University should give them the liberty to choose between online and offline lessons for the convenience of each student.
Some other demands put forward were reopening of all libraries for a period of at least 12 hours every day, and reopening of all undergraduate and postgraduate hostels along with the prompt release of centralised PG hostel admission forms.
Hostels, libraries partly open in DU
Delhi University officials have made it clear that the existing hostel residents could continue to stay in the hostels as guests while appropriate arrangements for the permanent stay of first-year students will be made after the conclusion of their term-end examinations in March. ABVP also stated, “Furthermore, the library timings would be extended, e-library facility would come into being from the first week of March and the second phase of the campus reopening process, already underway in the present month, would also be completed by March.”The protesters from ABVP further demanded that the university release pending end-semester examination results, a one-time additional opportunity for ex-students to appear in qualifying examinations to secure their respective educational degrees, and a reduced police presence within the campus.
